I first met Jeff Nevaras many years ago when he studied guitar privately with me at Berklee College of Music in Boston, a position I have held since 1988.

At the time, his drive, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and raw talent made him a standout. By the time he graduated, I began of him as the friend and contemporary he is today. Since then, we've always stayed in touch. His name is on the “short list” when I'm asked to recommend other guitarists for gigs.

During one conversation Jeff and I had, he told me of a philosophy he follows, “Under-promise and over-deliver.” Thinking back over the years I've known him, he has always stayed true to that philosophy.

In today's world, that kind of integrity and humility is rare.

I would like to offer the strongest possible recommendation on his behalf. His enthusiasm, expertise, integrity and organizational skills make him ideally suited in my opinion. Please take this into consideration when you are considering hiring and/or studying with Jeff Nevaras.

My daughter took lessons with Jeff for a few years. It was the best thing I ever did for her. It brought her out of her shell. She still loves her music and arts. Worked for Newbury Comics for years. If anyone needs a referral I'll be sure to give him one. He's a great teacher. Jeff you might not recognize Dayna now. She's got a graphic design background and now is a hairdresser. Still has crazy colored hair. She turned out great. :)

Jeff is an amazing teacher who provides practical strategies for students of every level to improve their guitar playing ability. He has a deep knowledge of music theory, which enables him to impart a deep understanding of music to his students and not simply the ability to copy someone’s riff. I highly recommend him. And while money isn’t really an issue for me, the lessons are very affordable.

Jeff is the best! I've been taking lessons from him for the last two years and my playing has improved immeasurably. I've played guitar since I was twelve (I'm in my 50s now) but I've never taken formal lessons until recently. I'm sorry I waited so long. Jeff is an incredibly knowledgeable musician who is able to clearly communicate that knowledge to students of all levels and give them practical lessons to help them move to the next level. Stop Waiting to get better, get better NOW! I’ve only been working with Jeff a few months and he’s already made me learn all the stuff I faked my way through/avoided early on because they were too “difficult”. Jeff will make you learn/be a good student. Spend the time/money and get better at what you love to do or have always wanted to do.

When I met Jeff he was very receptive about my interests in music and my goals going forward in learning the guitar. He has a tremendous wealth of knowledge and is very patient. I studied with Jeff for 4 years. I have played the guitar for nearly 55 years having been involved with teaching and playing professionally for many years during my 20s. That being said, he most certainly was the best and most comprehensive teacher I have ever had. His knowledge base is quite broad. He was always able to address any topic I would choose to explore. His treatment of various areas of study was always legitimate. If he was not an expert in some area of study he would make that known; and he would always take the initiative to do any extra research.

His technical proficiency on the instrument is superb, covering a wide range of styles. His communication skills with respect to teaching we're always clear and direct and I think most importantly his level of maturity and musicianship are quite solid.

Jeff has the ability to communicate and teach clearly. Once your goals are set, Jeff provides the insight and guidance you need to achieve them.
